At Turlock Eye Physicians Medical Group we stress to our patients the important of regular eye exams. Many serious eye diseases, such as glaucoma, can lead to irreparable damage if not caught in the early stages. The only way to catch glaucoma and other serious diseases is through regular eye exams, as they often do not show symptoms.
During your routine eye exam, your doctor will test your visual acuity and test for diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, color blindness, and diabetic retinopathy.
Your doctor will discuss their findings with you, concluding the exam. If further attention is needed, you will be scheduled a more comprehensive exam targeting the specific problem. Our patients use this opportunity to ask any questions concerning their eye health.
How often you schedule your eye exam depends on a number of factors. Those with good eye health will be asked to come back every two years, while those who have had previous conditions, or existing conditions, will be asked to return every year. Diabetic patients will also be asked to return yearly, as diabetic retinopathy is a possibility. Frequency of visits will also be determined by age, family history and medications taken.
It is important to remember that many eye diseases can cause blindness if not caught early enough. At Turlock Eye Physicians Medical Group we strive to make our patients comfortable coming back for their exams. Your health is our number one concern, and we only provide the most in depth and comprehensive eye exams to our patients.
